Hello there! I’m Caryn, the slightly sleep-deprived but endlessly imaginative founder of The Tiny Dept., and also the proud mother of five curious little creatures who serve as my most enthusiastic test subjects (and toughest critics). This whole endeavor began as a wild idea and slowly took shape over six months of late nights, endless coffee, and countless revisions. What started as three entirely different versions, each with its own charm and chaos, finally landed right where it was always meant to be: here, as The Tiny Dept. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier that I waited it out.

Every box we send out each month is built from our family’s own world of adventure. My kids and I spend the majority of our days outdoors, whether it’s sunshine or rain, frost or heatwave. We believe that imagination doesn’t have an off-season. Out there, the mud turns into mountains, sticks become wands, and ordinary afternoons turn into extraordinary missions.

Our monthly boxes are an extension of that world. Each one comes with a story-driven mission, ten imaginative activities, a badge to earn, and a “Tiny Tool or Toy” to use again and again. Plus, there’s always one special Echo Moment, a little pocket of time designed for parents and children to slow down and truly connect.

And if you’ve met Director Ellery Moss and their right-hand assistant Otis Finch, you might recognize two of my real-life little ones. They’re the heart (and often the chaos) behind The Tiny Dept.—the voices that remind me why this matters. Because imagination isn’t just for kids, it’s a family affair, and it’s the one thing we believe the world needs a lot more of.
